Atlantic Group [v] of Companies Managing Director Hatem Saleh will again be embarking on a challenge for a great cause – raising awareness for the thousands of homeless in Australia by spending a night at Eithad stadium for the CEO Sleepout.

Last year saw Hatem raise over $39,000 (the highest fund raiser in Victoria) with the help and support of the Atlantic Group [v] of Companies staff and peers with a consecutive sleepout event held in Peninsula, the company’s function room at Central Pier. The money raised was in aid of the St Vincent de Paul Society.

‘It is important for Australians to remember that in this land of opportunity, as easy as things come, they can just as easily be taken away. Last year’s Sleepout was an experience I will never forget,’ said Saleh.

This year Hatem aims to beat his record amount. ‘With the success from last year’s efforts I’ve been inspired to raise the bar. We aim to raise over $55,000 through a supporting event we’ve dubbed SoupaCause. Our regular suppliers have kindly donated produce and our staff will donate their time. All money raised will go straight to the St Vincent de Paul Society.

The SoupaCause event will hold two sessions in Docklands one at lunchtime and one at twilight, selling soup and an artisan bread roll for $7.50 a cup on Friday 14th June.

Each entity within the Atlantic Group [v] of Companies and the associated businesses at Central Pier will provide their very own themed soup from Atlantic Group [v] and their famous sweet chicken and corn soup, Alumbra and their tomato and basil mascarpone, Va Bene and their lentil and spinach soup, Woolshed’s Moroccan lamb and cous cous and The Atlantic Restaurant and their Bisque while the artisan bread rolls will be provided by the Mill & Bakery.

BON JOVI BECAUSE WE CAN – THE TOUR: AUSTRALIAN DATES ANNOUNCED

Tickets from $35* On Sale Monday 20 May at 12noon

Paul Dainty, Chairman of Dainty Group has announced dates for the Australian leg of the “BON JOVI Because We Can – The Tour”. The tour will kick off in Melbourne on Saturday 7th December at Etihad Stadium.

Tickets for the Australian tour will go on sale on Monday 20th May at 12noon. Ensuring there is something for every fan, Bon Jovi is offering a wide range of ticket options starting at $35.00 (plus transaction and credit card charges where applicable). Tickets can be purchased from www.ticketmaster.com.au (Melbourne, Adelaide).

As presenting partner of the Australian leg of the tour, Telstra is running a special pre-sale for Telstra customers. The Telstra Thanks Pre-Sale powered by BangTango will run from 9am Monday 13th May to 8:59am Wednesday 15th May 2013 local time. These pre-sale tickets are strictly subject to availability. Visit www.telstra.com/music for more information.

In this spectacular new show fans will be treated to an unforgettable night of Bon Jovi’s huge arsenal of hits, as well as new tracks from the band’s latest album WHAT ABOUT NOW which debuted at # 1 on the Australian charts. The brand new video for the single “What About Now” can be viewed here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-88lY2GlxE.

Regarding the ticket pricing Paul Dainty commented, “We wanted to help every Bon Jovi fan get past all the economic doom and gloom and come along to what will be without doubt the best concert of 2013. This band totally delivers live on every level and I don’t think we’ve seen tickets from $35* for a topline act like Bon Jovi for many years, so this should be a great big Christmas party for fans.”

Night after night, this not-to-be-missed tour has earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike:

Billboard Magazine recently described the show as “a joyful musical tour de force.” Tampa Bay Times observed that Jon Bon Jovi “simply does not age. And when he hits those high notes, and we meet him right there at the top of our lungs, neither do we.” Buffalo News called the show “a triumphant, hours-long set of…monster ballads, fist-pumping anthems, and a lot of new material that sounded like all of those things,” and the Centre Daily Times recapped that “ending the night on a high note, the members of Bon Jovi took a bow and exited the stage while the rowdy audience continued to cheer and shout their approval long after the band was gone.”

The group’s return to the road in 2013 has launched the latest chapter in an ongoing blockbuster run which has already secured Bon Jovi’s status as the essential live rock band – having performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 35 million fans. “BON JOVI Because We Can – The Tour” kicked off in February and is currently making its way across the globe with dates in the US, Europe, the Far East, Africa, Latin America and Australia.

Destination Docklands Limited has appointed a new Chairperson following Clive Dwyer’s move to the Middle East to manage the destination program for Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

Dr David Cochrane will commence immediately in the role and looks forward to taking Destination Docklands into the new financial year with the aim of achieving our objectives of growing visitation, contributing to the conversation in amenity solutions and building our reputation as a unique community to live, work, visit and invest in.

David has extensive experience in: tourism, public land management, environment, health, transport, water, economic assessment and cost benefit analysis, triple bottom line analysis and commercial and strategic value assessment and will be a significant addition to the Destination Docklands organisation, contributing to the future of Docklands.

David is currently the Melbourne leader for the Economics, Regulation and Policy practice in Ernst & Young, having recently stepped down after 6 years as the founder and national leader. He is an economist and accountant with over 30 years practical experience. David has extensive experience in advising Government and the private sector on economic and financial policy including in regulatory reform, industry development, project evaluation and the development of business strategies for public and private sector organisations and capital evaluation projects. David has also performed extensive work in the completion of detailed reviews of government enterprises in a wide range of industries to determine commercial future, assess potential for corporatisation or privatisation and determination of future role in delivery of Government policy.

In early 2007, after 5 years of research, David completed his doctoral thesis entitled Maintaining Environmental Values in a Commercial Environment – a framework for Commercial Development in Victoria’s National Parks.

He has also recently been a member of the Commonwealth Government ‘Investment and Regulatory Reform Working Group’; a group established to assist the government in identify actions which will support the development of regional tourism assets including possible regulatory reform. He was also until recently (after 8 years) a member of the Dandenong Ranges Gardens Advisory Committee.

“The direction of Destination Docklands is an exciting one with innovative events and marketing programs and I am keen to lead the Organisation with the support of the staff, Board and our stakeholders into the next stage of its development.

“I am excited to be elected as Chair and plan to build on the previous strategies; bringing new initiatives to activate the waterfront and developing new partnership opportunities for Docklands” said Dr Cochrane.

A sculpture of eight, life-size red men crouching in a meeting circle was officially welcomed to its new home at NewQuay Promenade on the Dockland’s waterfront today.

The popular artwork, called ‘meeting 1’ was created by leading Beijing artist, Wang Shugang, and was acquired by MAB Corporation to be a feature at NewQuay.

Melbourne councillor, Ken Ong, unveiled the artwork with Andrew Buxton, managing director of MAB Corporation. The artwork was first exhibited at the G8 Summit meeting of world leaders in Heiligendamm, Germany in 2007 and later at the ‘Sculptures by the Sea’ exhibitions in Sydney and Perth.

“We are delighted that “meeting 1″ is now in place at its new home at NewQuay Promenade,” said Mr Buxton. “When l first saw the sculpture at Bondi, children and adults were immediately drawn to it. This is exactly the sort of interactive experience we wish to offer people at Docklands.

“We hope ‘meeting 1’ will provide enjoyment for residents and visitors of NewQuay Promenade. The sculpture will integrate beautifully with the new apartments and planned public park we are creating here.”

The artwork is one of the many attractions of the NewQuay expansion along the promenade. The former Waterfront City site which MAB purchased from ING in 2010 is transitioning into a new residential precinct and community hub.

The City of Melbourne will be the custodian of the sculpture and the councillor Ong welcomed the colourful new addition to Melbourne’s public art.

“Docklands hosts a fascinating outdoor art collection and this will be an addition that will appeal to people of all ages.”

The bronze crouching figures have been cast from one mould which was made from a life size model. All the sculptures are painted red, a colour that the artist sees as a multicultural colour, making it ideal for Melbourne’s diverse community.

In Chinese culture, the number eight is significant and is believed to bring good luck. The eight figures are 92 centimetres tall and each weighs 100 kilograms.

‘meeting 1’ is on display for all Docklands visitors on the western end of NewQuay Promenade from today.

Atlantic Group[v] Managing Director Hatem Saleh, warmly welcomes Italian baker and pastry artist, Alessandro Urilli to head their artisan bakery, Mill & Bakery at Central Pier, a first for Melbourne and Docklands which opened on 19th March.

The bakery was officially opened by Lord Mayor Robert Doyle with a ‘breaking of the bread’ ceremony.

What sets Mill & Bakery at Central Pier apart from other artisan bakeries – and is a first for Melbourne – is that the flour used in the breads, pastries and packaged goods will be ground in their onsite flour mill.

Whether out cycling or enjoying a leisurely stroll, rresidents can now drop by to collect their daily bread or cakes, the thousands of office workers can enjoy a beautiful baguette for lunch and visitors out and about on a weekend with the family (even their dog) can find a welcome stop for some delicious brunch items.

Open daily from 7:00am – 4:00pm, the Mill & Bakery at Central Pier will offer an assortment of freshly made patisseries, including butter and chocolate croissants, bombollini and of course fresh artisan bread.

Atlantic Group [v]’s Managing Director, Hatem Saleh, has not only been instrumental in bringing the vision for this important retail facility to life. ‘What we have created at the Mill & Bakery is a homely ambience inspired by European Countryside,’ Saleh says. ‘Together with our interior designer, we visited no fewer than 30 antique / brik a brack shops in search of hidden treasures and handpicked furnishings and specialty items to create an authentic experience for the bakery.’

‘We left no stone unturned to find the perfect pieces to create the look and feel. I am sure you will agree it was worth it,’ he says.

The Mill & Bakery is the latest addition to the other unique hospitality experiences we have created in Shed 9 – from The Woolshed Pub, va bene pizzeria and Alumbra bar and nightclub. Plus of course the destination we have created for events with our Shed 14 venues – Peninsula, MAIA, Sumac and Sketch. The transformation of Central Pier from 2006 to what it is today has been remarkable.

“Mill & Bakery at Central Pier is an essential and exciting addition to the Docklands and will be more than just a convenience, it will be an experience,” Mr Saleh added.
